From the very early Marvel comics. Oddly I don't remember this guy from my childhood. I only regularly started buying and reading the Marvel series from issue 55 on (the best story arc of the series). I did; however, find several (badly torn up) issues of his story arc at a flea market in '89 or so (well after I even thought about Star Wars much) so I at least remember him from then. I don't feel very strongly one way or the other about him but I was quite disappointed in other customizers attempts at him. I think most people, when interpreting comic art forget its limitations and blindly keep its bright blocks of solid, primary colors. So I went for a weathered dull red suit and a highly detailed paint job on one of my better alien sculpts. Don't even ask how many times I broke the ears during his making. Fall 2003 |
